Core6 Environmental was contracted to remediate the Transport Centre Facility within the Riverview Hospital Lands which is in close proximity to operational site buildings and utilities.

This project involved decommissioning of former Underground Storage Tanks, hazardous building materials identification and abatement, building demolition, and remediation of Waste and Hazardous Waste Soils through Detailed Site Investigation, and Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment.

This complex project, which was classified as “High Risk” by the BC Ministry of Environment, was complicated by petroleum hydrocarbons having migrated beneath the water table through fractures in the clay soils. Ultimately Core6 was successful in obtaining a Certificate of Compliance for the Site, and also provided contaminated sites-related strategic advice for the remainder of the 100+ hectare Riverview Lands, including obtaining an Approval in Principle.
