Core6 Environmental was the Qualified Environmental Professional and Environmental Monitor for PPM Civil Constructors on the restoration of an intertidal zone in Burrard Inlet near the Maplewood Conservation Area.

The project involved the placement of approximately 230,000 m3 of imported sand and 3,000 tonnes of rock to raise the basin floor and create new reef habitat for marine, semi-aquatic, and avian species.

Core6 Environmental prepared the Marine Biological Salvage Plan, Environmental Protection Plan, obtained a Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) permit for the salvage, completed bird nesting surveys, collected ambient noise measurements, and evaluated the Acid Rock Drainage/Metal Leaching potential of the reef rock prior to placement, in addition to providing on-site environmental monitoring for the duration of the project.
