Core6 Environmental is leading the hydrogeological component of the Oakridge Mall Redevelopment including the Groundwater Management Strategy for the project. The current development plans have underground parking extending into an underlying aquifer that requires dewatering during both construction and permanently post-construction. This redevelopment project is one of the largest in Vancouver’s history.
Core6 Environmental designed and prepared detailed engineering specifications and drawings of dewatering wells and monitoring wells, to support the procurement and construction design package associated with the dewatering system. Core6 Environmental prepared the Groundwater Management Strategy submitted to the City of Vancouver. Core6 Environmental also strategized and consulted with the BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRO) in relation to submitting multiple complex short-term withdrawal, and permanent water license applications for the groundwater dewatering system.
To support the Groundwater Management Strategy and future decision-making, Core6 Environmental also completed a comprehensive Water Supply Source-to-Tap Assessment to assess potential risk to human health and sustainability of the water supply system.
