Core6 Environmental was retained by Bosa Development to provide hydrogeological (groundwater) expertise for the luxury high-rise residential development, Pier West, which will include two of the highest residential towers along the banks of the Fraser River in New Westminster. The development included the construction of a seawall intended to act in part, as a barrier for groundwater and surface water flow from the Fraser River. However, following the seawall’s completion it was determined to be leaking at a rate that was greater than expected and that exceeded the project design estimates for managing the incoming water.
Core6 Environmental continues to refine the model with updated inputs and to evaluate various water-proofing and dewatering approaches for the construction and operational phases of the project. Core6 Environmental designed the construction dewatering strategy which includes the use of multiple large diameter dewatering wells.
Core6 Environmental continues to provide technical input on the construction dewatering strategy and design, the required provincial permitting for groundwater extraction related activities, and the post construction foundation dewatering design.
