Contaminated Lands

At Core6 Environmental we specialize in providing environmental consulting services for the assessment and remediation of contaminants across Western Canada. Our highly experienced team excels at providing cost-effective and innovative solutions to challenging contaminated land issues and the protection of human health and the environment.

Our technical and regulatory understanding allows us to approach contaminated land projects strategically to maximize site usability and value while meeting client goals.

Whether you need a site assessment, site remediation, risk assessment, expert regulatory support, or general advice on management of environmental liabilities, the team at Core6 Environmental is here to help.

Environmental Site Assessments

Core6 Environmental has supported numerous land transactions, environmental due diligence, and liability assessments through the provision of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (known in BC as Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations) throughout Western Canada. In instances where contamination has been identified, Core6 Environmental is proficient at designing and implementing Detailed Site Investigations and Phase III Environmental Site Assessments to obtain delineation, support client objectives, and regulatory approvals. From single-family residential properties to large, complex industrial lands, our team has the depth and experience to efficiently complete the work required and support your project needs.

Remediation

Core6 Environmental’s remediation services begin with a careful remedial options evaluation factoring in regulatory requirements, technical feasibility, cost, schedule/time constraints, and most importantly our clients’ goals and objectives. With expertise spanning in situ and ex situ remedial methods along with risk assessment and sustainable approaches, our team is able to offer an optimal solution for any remediation project.

Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment

Core6 Environmental’s team of risk assessment specialists have been involved with the evaluation of contaminants in the environment since its inception in British Columbia in the mid-1990s and have assisted in the preparation of BC provincial and Canadian federal guidance. We provide scientifically defensible and technically sound evaluations of the potential for, and extent of risk posed by chemical stressors on human health as well as terrestrial and aquatic ecological receptors. Core6 takes a proactive approach to risk assessment by integrating and incorporating risk assessment considerations into projects at an early stage, allowing opportunities for collaboration and efficiency. Under the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, properties that meet risk assessment requirements are deemed to have been ‘remediated’.

Contaminant Hydrogeology

Hydrogeology is one of our key service offerings and Core6 Environmental has extensive experience completing all facets of physical and contaminant hydrogeology on projects, including highly specialized technical work that few firms perform. Core6 Environmental is known for our ability to solve complex hydrogeological problems at technically challenging sites. Using state-of-art modeling, Core6 is routinely called upon to develop groundwater conceptual site models, demonstrate plume stability, as well as to model contaminant fate and transport to receiving environments.

Expert Review

Given the technical and practical expertise on hand, Core6 Environmental has developed a strong reputation within the industry for providing expert opinions, legal file reviews, and third-party review. In doing so, Core6 Environmental has demonstrated experience providing expert witness testimonies and input to environmental appeal board decisions. With four in-house Contaminated Sites Approved Professional (CSAP) rostered members, in both standards and risk-based assessments, Core6 Environmental is ideally suited to provide CSAP support for regulatory submissions.
