HR-16, Hydrogeologist

We are currently looking for a full-time, permanent Hydrogeologist to join our team in the Victoria or Vancouver/Lower Mainland region of British Columbia. We are seeking candidates with contaminant hydrogeology experience and who have worked with both inorganic and organic contaminants. 

You will be responsible for providing hydrogeology support to our senior hydrogeologists who have over 40 years of combined experience. Your tasks will be on a range of project types including contaminated sites, mine properties, environmental assessment projects, and remediation projects. Typical tasks and activities to expect within this role include travel to and from sites located throughout Western Canada to oversee the drilling of boreholes and installation of groundwater monitoring wells; logging of rock core and soil types; collection of environmental quality samples; directing and overseeing contractors; preparation of field work documentation; and coordination with analytical laboratories and equipment suppliers. You will also be involved in the detailed analysis of data, development of conceptual site models, and carrying out groundwater flow and contaminant transport models.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Contaminant hydrogeologist with 2 – 5 years environmental consulting experience (contaminated site investigations, drilling/installing of monitoring wells, hydraulic conductivity testing, development of conceptual site models, groundwater/contaminant transport modelling);
  • Bachelor’s or preferably Master’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Earth Sciences with course work in physical and contaminant hydrogeology;
  • BC Registered professional geologist or engineer (will consider current EIT or GIT candidates eligible for registration);
  • Strong communication skills and have the ability to work directly with contractors;
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license;
  • Willing to travel and work overtime as needed;
  • Willing to take direction and work collaboratively with others;
  • Confident and capable of working independently following directions.
